The ability to fast track projects is dependent upon availability and control over critical resources.
These critical resources include those associated with the engineering, project management, supply, fabrication and construction functions of projects. As outlined above, AEL’s business is structured such that these critical resources are sourced and controlled from within our own Group. This structure allows effective allocation and prioritisation of resources to maintain aggressive overall project schedules. Of particular importance in fast tracking of projects is having the design and construction functions carried out by, and under the control of, the one Group.

This allows for a co-ordinated approach and helps minimise project delivery times (and cost) due to the following factors:
- Identification and adherence to design priorities is more focused to ensure the correct sequence and timing of construction works can be maintained.
- Interface issues between designers and constructors are minimised with the one organisation responsible for both functions.
- Extension of time claims associated with late or inaccurate design information are eliminated.
- Claims by the construction contractor associated with site modifications, inaccurate design information or late equipment deliveries are eliminated.
- Reduces the project management requirements on the clients/owners side.
- Design information is adequately detailed with construction requirements understood.
The above factors allow for the project to be fast tracked without incurring a cost premium and at reduced risk of cost over runs.
